Intro: 1 and 2 Patterns

Elliot introduces a few basics of conducting, as well as the one and two pattern. He uses Bizet's Les Toreadores as a musical example.

3 Pattern (Slow)

In the second tutorial, Elliot introduces the slow three pattern as well as advice on connecting to the sound.

 

3 Pattern (Continued): Different Parts of Arm for Fast/Slow Music

In the third tutorial, you will learn how the different parts of the arm are employed for conducting fast and slow music in a three pattern.

4 Pattern

This tutorial examines the four pattern using Borodin's beautiful Polovtsian Dances.

 

1 Pattern with Accelerando // Transfer to 4 Pattern with Accelerando

Here you will explore how to conduct an accelerando. Elliot uses Shostakovich's 5th Symphony to demonstrate an accelerando in the four pattern.

6 Pattern

In this tutorial, Elliot will demonstrate two different ways of conducting a six pattern using musical examples from Beethoven's 4th Symphony and Schubert's 5th Symphony.

 

Left Hand Independence

Having learned the basic conducting patterns, Elliot begins incorporating the use of the left hand in this tutorial
